Police in Delta State have arrested 54-year-old Edward Odega after he confessed to serially abusing his three daughters over a seven-year period, a case authorities describe as one of the most troubling sexual-violence incidents reported in the state in recent years.

The arrest followed a detailed confession made to investigators after one of the children disclosed the abuse, prompting neighbours to alert local authorities. The Delta State Police Command confirmed Odega is now in custody, where he is undergoing interrogation while the victims receive medical and psychological care.

According to police statements, welfare experts and gender-based violence response officers have been assigned to the case, with forensic evidence collection already underway to support prosecution. Local child-rights organisations say the daughters, all minors, have been moved to a safe location as part of emergency protection procedures.

Community leaders in the area expressed outrage, calling for a swift and transparent trial. Advocacy groups say the case highlights a wider national concern: underreported sexual violence against minors, often carried out by trusted family members.
