Nigeria’s former Nasarawa State Governor, Senator Tanko Al-Makura, has called for a renewed national commitment to unity and civic responsibility, urging citizens and leaders to prioritise cohesion at a time of rising political and economic strain. Speaking during an engagement with community groups, Al-Makura said Nigeria’s long-term stability depends on collective effort rather than partisan divides.

He argued that the country’s persistent challenges, from insecurity to deepening social fragmentation, require a national mindset that goes beyond ethnic or religious identity. According to him, a stronger civic culture is essential for strengthening democratic institutions and safeguarding the future of younger generations.
