We publish accurate, verifiable journalism. Every story is traceable to a named source, and where a report originates with another publication we credit and link it directly on the article.

We do not publish speculation as fact, we do not invent quotes or figures, and we correct errors openly rather than quietly.

Axis Signal operates a hybrid newsroom. Our editorial personas are AI-assisted desks working under human oversight, and we say so on every byline page rather than presenting them as individual reporters.

What AI does here:

• Monitors news sources and ranks stories by significance.
• Drafts copy in our house style from reporting we have identified.
• Routes stories to the correct desk.

What AI is never permitted to do:

• Introduce a fact, quote, statistic or name that is not in the source material.
• Publish without passing automated verification checks.
• Publish without a human approving it.

Before a draft reaches an editor it must pass programmatic checks. These reject copy that reproduces source material verbatim rather than reporting on it, that falls outside our length and structure standards, that carries an invalid section, or that shows signs of model artefacts. Anything that fails is held for human review with the reason attached — it is never silently corrected and published.

Every published article records which model produced the draft and which checks it passed, so any story can be audited after the fact.

Where a story derives from another outlet's reporting, that outlet is named and linked in a “Reporting from” block on the article. Where several outlets covered the same event, each is credited. We publish our own account of the story, not a copy of theirs.

Editorial decisions are made independently of commercial ones. Advertising is served programmatically and advertisers have no input into coverage. Sponsored content, if published, is labelled as such.

Axis Signal reports on Africa for a global audience and on the world for an African one. We treat African stories as world news rather than regional colour, and we seek sources and perspectives from the countries we cover rather than only from commentators outside them.

We correct errors promptly and visibly. Our process is set out in the corrections policy.
