The Senate Committee on Finance, led by Chairman Senator Sani Musa, accused the CAC boss of serially disregarding legislative summons and failing to account for issues relating to the commission's revenue.

"The Registrar General has on refused to honour invitations and summons by this committee," Musa said, further alleging that the committee had unresolved concerns regarding the reconciliation, he stated that the committee had issues with the reconciliation of the revenue of the CAC, but each time they summoned him, he would send a junior officer.

The matter was first raised by Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, who urged the committee to recommend Magaji's removal from Bola Tinubu. Kalu argued that failure to comply with legislative oversight undermines National Assembly.

Another member of the committee, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, proposed that no budgetary allocation should be approved for the CAC in the 2026 Appropriation Act until the lawmakers. Oshiom be restrained from spending its internally generated revenue without prior approval from the National Assembly.

The committee subsequently endorsed the proposal to restrict the CAC's access generated funds pending compliance. This tension between the legislative arm and key accountability and compliance. Further reactions from the CAC were not immediately available at the this report.

The move by the Senate Committee on Finance is seen as a step towards ensuring accountability and transparency in key government agencies, and comes as the National Assembly seeks to assert its authority functions.

The development also highlights the need agencies to comply oversight and to ensure that they are accountable for their actions and decisions.
