Ryan Garcia enters Saturday's WBC defence in Las Vegas as the clear pick among former world champions and boxing insiders, who largely expect the champion to stop Conor Benn rather than go the distance. The consensus raises expectations that Garcia's first title defence at T‑Mobile Arena will not require the full 12 rounds.
Conor Benn returns to the welterweight limit for the first time since April 2022 to challenge the 28‑year‑old American. Benn has won 25 of 26 professional fights and would emulate his father, Nigel, by claiming a WBC belt if he prevails. Garcia carries a 25‑win record from 28 fights, with 20 knockouts, and this is his first defence after beating Mario Barrios by decision in February.
The panel of voices includes Tony Bellew, who makes the lone bullish pick for Benn, saying, "If Garcia has taken this lightly in any way he will lose, but he’s in great shape and is saying the right things in the build-up.
