Red Bull will go into the Spanish Grand Prix without Isack Hadjar, who remains sidelined while recovering from a wrist injury sustained during the summer. The absence continues a run of missed races for the 21-year-old, who will sit out a third consecutive round in Madrid.
Hadjar missed last month's Dutch Grand Prix and the Italian Grand Prix at the weekend, and New Zealander Liam Lawson will once again take his place on the senior Red Bull team. Lawson, who normally races for Red Bull's second outfit, Racing Bulls, will race alongside Max Verstappen at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
Lawson's usual seat at Racing Bulls will be occupied by reserve driver Yuki Tsunoda for the Spanish weekend. The team lineup change preserves Red Bull's two-car entries across both squads, but it leaves Hadjar watching from the sidelines while he completes his recovery.
Red Bull confirmed on Monday that Hadjar, who broke his wrist while boxing, is continuing to "progress positively" in his recovery but is "not yet ready" to return to competition. The team promoted Hadjar to its senior roster in 2026; his absence therefore represents a disruption to their driver plans this season.
On the championship front, Red Bull sit fourth in the constructors' standings, behind Mercedes, Ferrari and McLaren, a position the team will look to protect as Lawson steps into Verstappen's side to contest the Spanish round. Hadjar's next race appearance will depend on the outcome of his ongoing recovery and any further medical clearance from the team.
