Great Britain gains two more gold medals at the European Aquatics Championships in Paris, consolidating success across diving and artistic swimming.
In the women's synchronised 10m platform, Maisie Bond and Lois Toulson produced a 300.06 to claim first, ahead of Germany on 298.20 and Ukraine on 286.20. The British pair prevailed by just 1.86 points. Toulson reflected on the result, saying, "We came into these championships wanting to win and knowing it was possible," and added, "We'd been training really hard and looking good I think. That was a [personal best] for us. To be able to do that and get a gold medal - we're really proud."
The mixed duet final delivered another narrow British victory. Isabelle Thorpe and Ranjuo Tomblin scored 258.2383 to take gold, edging Spain by 0.2650, with Italy third on 255.1641. Thorpe, an Olympic silver medallist, said, "It's incredible. I'm really happy and to have done it with Ranjuo is incredible. We didn't have the most smooth sailing preparation due to injury, but it's good we have been able to come through it and be on top." Tomblin, who had defended his title in the men's solo technical event on Friday, added, "Today is more special because I get to do it with Izzy, so it's incredible."
The championships also produced podium finishes in the men's 1m springboard. Jack Laugher took silver with 418.25, and fellow Briton Jordan Houlden claimed bronze on 410.30. They finished behind Germany's Moritz Linus Wesemann, who won with 431.45.
Both golds arrived by fine margins, and Tomblin's mixed duet success followed his solo technical defence on Friday, underscoring Britain's breadth across the aquatic disciplines in Paris.
