Manager Chris Wilder confirmed the club had received an approach and made clear he prefers O'Hare to stay. "He's a good player so I'm not surprised there's been interest," Wilder said. "I wouldn't want him to go, but I understand there's a bid in and it'll be dealt with by the certain people who deal with these (things)." Wilder warned the situation is still live and asked O'Hare to remain focused on the next game, adding, "It's not a done deal, I've notified Cal to get his head down and get his head on and (focus on) playing for us on Tuesday night. If that changes, then that changes."
Wilder used his pre-match media appearance to criticise Wrexham's late-window tactics, suggesting the Welsh club were targeting multiple players in the same position. "This is not a criticism, but Wrexham are in for half the division," he said. "I know there have been bids on other players from that football club in that position as well, so maybe it's a bit of blanket bombing in that position and see what comes up." The remark followed Wilder's earlier public digs at Wrexham and its manager after watching their opening-weekend fixture.
Phil Parkinson, Wrexham's manager, is believed to be seeking an attacking midfielder before the window shuts. The immediate next step falls to Sheffield United's recruitment and board teams, who must decide whether to accept the bid before Tuesday's fixtures conclude.
