Barcelona’s early-season momentum could unravel if the team eases off, coach Hansi Flick warned on Saturday, ahead of Sunday's La Liga trip to Levante. The club arrive off five straight wins across competitions, having scored 22 goals and allowed three, a hot start Flick says rests on sustained intensity rather than short bursts of attacking quality.
Flick highlighted the forwards who have powered that form, citing recent high-scoring displays and naming Raphinha and Lamine Yamal as key contributors. He framed the current run as fragile, and cautioned that a change in approach would deliver the wrong result at a stage when consistency matters most.
“We know in football things can change very fast. I like that we are enjoying the situation right now,” Flick told reporters, stressing that pleasure in form must not replace discipline. He reinforced the point with a second warning, “If we change something from this attitude, we’ll go in the wrong direction, and this is what we don’t want.”
Beyond preserving the winning sequence, Flick pressed on the need for concentration match to match. “We’re very happy we are playing on this level, but we know that we have to show it in every game,” he said, adding the team must remain active on the pitch and keep intensity high.
Flick also tied the short-term run to longer-term goals, reiterating the club’s ambition in Europe and saying the Champions League must be the target this season. “I spoke with the fans, with the people in Barcelona. This year we have to win the Champions League, and of course this is a dream for us; this is our objective,” he said, and acknowledged the president’s view that retaining La Liga would be significant, calling a third straight title “amazing.”
Levante represents the first concrete test of whether Barcelona can turn hot form into durable performance across domestic and continental competitions. Flick’s message leaves little doubt: the team must manage focus and intensity now if they are to protect both their title defence and Champions League ambitions as the season progresses.
