Taylor has shown uncharacteristic public emotion during fight week, saying, "I thought I was handling all the emotions until today." She has spent more time than usual under the media glare, absorbing the scale of a stadium send-off and the sea of green, white and orange tricolours. The programme around the bout turns the night into a ceremony as much as a contest, with music from Westlife among the scheduled festivities.
Promoters and friends have responded to the mood. At a recent press conference Eddie Hearn said, "When it's all said and done you will look at your belts, you might look at your bank balance. But you will sit there, close your eyes and recall all those incredible moments in your life that made you cry. I will cry on the ring walk. I will cry in the [post-fight] interview." Manager Brian Peters has driven a broad promotional push, organising a 1,500-mile island-wide bus tour covering all 32 counties and arranging dozens of radio and community stops. Peters said, "No-one works as hard as Katie," noting the effort behind selling a stadium event of this size.
The staging has shaped attendance and audience makeup. Around 80% of the crowd are expected to be watching a live fight for the first time, 65% of tickets were bought outside Dublin, and the event will be shown on free-to-air television. At a public workout this week Taylor invited 10-year-old Clodagh Keating into the ring for drills and a hug, later giving the girl her boxing gloves. Clodagh said afterwards, "I'd do anything for Katie Taylor. I'd even sell my dog."
Logistics for broadcast and coverage are in place: Radio 5 Sports Extra will carry coverage from 19:00 BST, switching to 5 Live from 22:00, with main-event ringwalks expected between 22:00 and 22:30. Saturday's bell will determine whether Taylor departs on the high note the occasion promises, and it will be the last time many in the stadium experience her fight week in person.
