The 33-year-old Colombian converted strong form across the weekend into a breakthrough in Race #2 at the Curvelo oval, a 0.777-mile short track with roughly 16 degrees of banking. She had earlier posted her first top-five result of the year with a fourth-place finish in Race #1.

Calderón took the checkered flag 0.527 seconds ahead of Felipe Malinowski, with Ricardo Maurício third. The decisive sequence unfolded after a caution for Nicolas Costa. On the double-file restart that followed, Alfredinho Ibiapina and Cacá Bueno collided while contesting the lead. Bueno spun and Ibiapina was pushed wide, and Calderón slipped through on the inside to seize the lead with 23 minutes remaining.

After taking over, she held off intense late pressure from Malinowski and carried her SG28 Racing entry to Victory Lane. The result completes a weekend that moved Calderón from a strong finish in Race #1 to a historic victory in Race #2.

NASCAR has seen female winners in lower-tier and regional divisions over the years, but Calderón’s win is the first in the NASCAR Brazil Series. Previous notable female successes in stock-car categories include Hailie Deegan and Gracie Trotter in the K&N West Series, Manami Kobayashi in the NASCAR Euro series, and Shawna Robinson decades ago in the Goody’s Dash Series. In the Cup-level history, Danica Patrick remains the only woman to have earned a pole position, while Sara Christian holds the best top-division finish with fifth place in the inaugural 1949 season.

Calderón arrives at this milestone with a varied international résumé. She contested seven IndyCar races for A.J. Foyt Racing in 2022, reaching as high as 16th at the Long Beach Grand Prix. Her career also includes multiple seasons in Formula 2 and Formula 3, three appearances in the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona, two starts in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and campaigns in the FIA World Endurance Championship, European Le Mans Series, Super Formula and Porsche Supercup. She worked as a development and test driver for Sauber, later Alfa Romeo Racing, from 2018 to 2021.

The win at Curvelo registers as a landmark result for Calderón and SG28 Racing, and it marks a new chapter for female competitors in the NASCAR Brazil Series.
