Android creators gain access to Adobe Premiere’s mobile editor, including free core tools and unlimited watermark-free 4K exports, after the app’s launch on Google Play on Sept. 22, 2026. The Android release follows the app’s iOS debut more than a year earlier and mirrors the same free-with-in-app-purchases model for advanced AI functionality.

The app provides no-cost editing essentials: users can split, trim, crop and merge clips, change playback speeds, and layer text, effects and audio including voiceovers. Exports are not limited by watermarks, Adobe says, allowing unlimited 4K outputs sized for any platform without a charge.

Advanced generative features are behind in-app purchases. Capabilities described for those tools include creating sound effects and accessing AI-generated assets from Adobe Firefly. Adobe sells generative AI credits that users spend for those functions, and the app also offers optional extra cloud storage for purchase.

Adobe has promised additional features will arrive soon, including Adobe Fonts, improved captions and a continued, seamless editing experience between Premiere mobile and Premiere desktop. The company positions those updates as extensions of workflow continuity between phone and desktop edits.

The app requires devices running Android 13 and recommends at least 5GB of RAM to install. Beyond the system minimum and the app’s free core tools, the biggest limitation for users seeking AI-assisted editing will be the need to buy credits for generative features rather than accessing them as part of a single subscription.

The Android launch broadens Premiere’s reach to a larger pool of mobile creators while keeping Adobe’s generative tools monetized through credits and storage add-ons. Users can download the Premiere Android app now from Google Play and begin editing with the free toolset immediately, while Adobe rolls out the promised feature updates over the coming weeks.
