The mission said misleading information about visa procedures is circulating and advised people to check directly with embassy sources rather than rely on intermediaries.
The embassy used blunt language to steer applicants back to official channels. “Beware of misinformation. Save yourself the hassle, just ask us directly,” it wrote, and invited readers to submit claims they had heard from “visa agents” so the mission could respond publicly. “Tell us some of the things you’ve heard from ‘visa agents’ in the comments, and we’ll answer in upcoming posts,” the post added.
To remove any ambiguity the mission repeated that it has no formal links with intermediaries. “We do not work with any ‘visa Agents’!” the embassy declared, and it reminded the public that all relevant visa information is available on its official website.
The warning mostly aims to reduce confusion, avoid unnecessary expense and limit exposure to potential fraud, the embassy said. By directing applicants to its web pages and X posts, the mission is trying to replace secondhand claims with authoritative guidance and to correct common misunderstandings about application steps and requirements.
What happens next is straightforward, according to the embassy: it will respond to claims submitted in the comments through future posts, and it expects applicants to verify procedures through its official channels.
