The latest attack hit Beli village in Rogo Local Government Area at about 1 a.m. on Tuesday, a source who spoke on condition of anonymity told reporters. Gunmen entered the community, fired into the area, forced their way into the house of the All Progressives Congress chairman for the ward and took Alhaji Audu Fanka Salisu Yahaya away. The source said a young man, described as not more than 25 years old, was shot and died at the scene, and other residents suffered gunshot wounds.
Yahaya is a close associate of Jibril Ismail Falgore, the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, who comes from Rogo LGA. Residents posted accounts of the assault on Facebook and urged security agencies and other authorities to intervene, according to the reports. Those social-media posts amplified local calls for protection as the incidents unfolded.
The Beli attack follows strikes in neighbouring communities since Sunday. On Sunday, suspected bandits reportedly attacked Chiromawa in Garin Malam Local Government Area, killing three people and abducting an elderly man who was later said to have escaped his captors. On Monday night, attackers reportedly struck Rantan community in Bebeji Local Government Area, where two people were killed. The sequence brings the number of consecutive days of reported attacks in the area to three.
Security agencies have not issued an official statement on the alleged attack in Beli. Residents and local leaders remain on edge as the pattern of violence continues, and calls for a formal response from authorities are growing. The situation remains fluid as communities await confirmation and action from security services.
