Production on The Inbetweeners 3 begins on Monday, Netflix confirmed, with the four original leads set to return to their roles. Simon Bird, James Buckley, Blake Harrison and Joe Thomas will reprise Will McKenzie, Jay Cartwright, Neil Sutherland and Simon Cooper for the new feature.
The creators Damon Beesley and Iain Morris will write and direct the film, promising continuity behind the camera as well as on screen. Beesley and Morris said it had been "super fun" reuniting with the characters, and added, "We're going to work hard every week to ensure there are no problemos making this new film for humans."
Netflix released a short teaser showing the quartet piling into their trademark yellow Fiat, struggling to start the engine, and driving out of what appears to be a storage unit. The clip underlines that the project will explicitly follow the same group of friends.
The TV series originally aired on E4 from 2008 to 2010, and the new movie will arrive after two film sequels backed by Film4, which were released in 2011 and 2014. The show has found renewed attention in recent years through social media clips and the continued visibility of its most memorable moments.
Beyond the returning leads and the creators, casting details remain unclear. Fans will be watching to see whether actresses who appeared in the original run, including Emily Atack as Charlotte Hinchcliffe and Emily Head as Carli D'Amato, will be invited back. Production starting now means those decisions and further casting announcements are likely to follow as filming progresses.
The confirmation ends months of speculation about whether the franchise would return and places the original creative team and cast at the centre of the revival. With principal photography under way and Netflix positioning the project publicly, the next steps will be casting updates, a production schedule, and the platform's release plans.
