Reality TV contestant Stephen Bear has been sentenced to 24 weeks in prison after admitting five offences relating to his sex offender notification requirements.
Thames Magistrates’ Court heard that Bear, 36, failed to notify police about a trip to Brazil last year, despite being required to disclose foreign travel.
Prosecutor Maisa Mamman said Bear’s trip came to light after he posted videos from Brazil on social media. The court heard he showed himself on a beach and said police would not be able to catch him.
“He posted on social media videos essentially bragging he was in Brazil,” Mamman said.
Bear also failed to notify authorities within three days of returning to the UK, the court heard. He did not disclose that he had obtained a new passport and two bank cards during the trip.
In his defence, the court was told that Bear had not understood the restrictions at the time and was now clear about the requirements.
Deputy District Judge Claire Pithie said the sentence would take immediate effect, telling him: “You need to work on your strategies. Otherwise you will keep ending up finding yourself in difficult situations.”
Bear is already in prison after being sentenced on Thursday for breaching a restraining order that prohibited him from posting online about his former partner, Georgia Harrison.
He was placed on the sex offenders register in 2023 after being jailed for 21 months for sharing a private video involving Harrison without her knowledge.
