Misfits Boxing added Amir Tyson to its roster, securing a multi-fight contract that should put the 29-year-old in the ring this year and position him toward a future meeting with Chase DeMoor. The promotion expects Tyson to begin competition in December, using a series of tune-up fights before targeting a showdown with DeMoor next year.
The signing was confirmed during Saturday night’s Misfits event when commentator Ben Davis brought Tyson into the ring and the fighter delivered a short promotional speech about his plans. Tyson has been surrounded by boxing his entire life and was on broadcast duty for his father’s fight with Jake Paul in November 2024, a telecast during which he conducted a now-notorious interview after Mike Tyson exposed his rear end to cameras.
DeMoor, who was present at ringside, engaged with the moment. After the announcement he ripped off his shirt and entered the ring, forcing security to separate the two men. DeMoor is scheduled to fight Plinio Cruz, Alex Pereira’s coach, on October 10 in London, which makes it unlikely he will be Tyson’s first opponent under the new deal.
Tyson and Misfits are expected to book two or three fights for him before any high-profile pairing, with December’s Misfits Mania touted as the likely debut date. The plan gives Tyson space to develop inside the promotion while building toward the more combustible matchup with DeMoor.
The signing also continues a family tension around Amir’s choice to fight professionally. Mike Tyson publicly discouraged his son from pursuing bouts in 2021, telling him to "chill the f--- out" and to "get a job" after Amir expressed interest in fighting Logan Paul. For now, the immediate effects are commercial and scheduling: Misfits gains a fighter with a famous name, DeMoor gains a public foil, and fight fans can expect a December debut that maps a clear path to a potential clash next year.
