A US consulate in Dubai was struck by a suspected Iranian drone on Tuesday, creating a parking lot blaze that Dubai authorities contained and which resulted in no casualties.

Dubai teams extinguished the flames swiftly, the Dubai Media Office described the event as a "drone-related incident," and video footage and reporting by Al Jazeera showed smoke and fire at the compound.

Officials said the drone, suspected to be linked to the IRGC, hit the parking lot adjacent to the chancellery. Secretary Rubio confirmed all personnel at the facility were safe and reported no injuries.

The strike is the second US facility to be targeted after an attack on the Riyadh embassy, and it marks a direct hit on sovereign US soil in the UAE.

The incident comes amid wider Gulf tensions after Iran launched barrages at bases in Qatar and the UAE, a campaign that followed strikes on Tehran attributed to the United States and Israel.

The strikes have already disrupted commercial traffic, with airlines grounding some flights, and pushed oil prices higher. President Trump has vowed a response, raising the prospect of further escalation.

Dubai authorities contained the immediate damage, but the diplomatic and market fallout is ongoing. Washington and allied partners will now face decisions about security for diplomatic posts in the region, and how to calibrate any response while avoiding a broader conflagration.
