Three residents have been killed and 10 others taken captive after armed bandits attacked Taketsaba village in Talata Mafara Local Government Area, Zamfara State, a conflict analyst reported. The information was posted on Tuesday by Bakastine on his X account.
Bakastine said the casualties included women and babies. One of those killed is identified as Aliyu M. Taketsaba, a Civil Defence officer attached to the Mafara Division. The analyst also named a primary school teacher, Tanimu Aliyu Takatsaba, among those abducted during the raid.
“Bandits that invaded Taketsaba village in Talata Mafara LGA, Zamfara State, killed three residents and abducted at least 10 residents, including women and babies,” Bakastine wrote. He had earlier warned of armed groups operating in the area and urged a swift security response.
In an earlier alert the analyst said, “Bandits are currently in Taketsaba village, Talata Mafara LGA of Zamfara State. Security assistance is needed in the village and surrounding communities.” The two posts frame the incident as part of ongoing insecurity affecting communities around Talata Mafara.
Details about who carried out the attack and where the abducted people have been taken remain unclear. As of filing, the Zamfara State Police Command had not issued an official statement, and the fate of those seized has not been confirmed.
The killings and kidnappings have intensified concern over the security situation in the immediate area. Local residents and analysts are now waiting for a response from state security agencies and for any movement to recover the abducted civilians and restore protection to vulnerable communities.
