Amazon MGM Studios has unveiled the first official image from its upcoming God of War adaptation, offering fans an early look at Ryan Hurst’s Kratos and Callum Vinson’s Atreus as production ramps up on the highly anticipated series.
The still shows Kratos standing beside a tree, watching his son draw a bow at an unseen target - echoing the emotionally charged father-son dynamic that defined 2018’s God of War.
Notably, Atreus appears slightly younger than the 11-year-old version players met in the game, suggesting the series may adjust timelines or character arcs.
Hurst, best known for Sons of Anarchy, was cast as Kratos in January. The ensemble continues to expand, with Ed Skreinset to portray Baldur.
The cast also includes Mandy Patinkin as Odin, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor, Teresa Palmer as Sif, Alastair Duncan as Mimir, Jeff Gulka as Sindri, and Danny Woodburn as Brok.
Whether the live-action designs fully capture the game’s iconic look remains a topic of debate among fans. Still, with Sony Pictures Television involved and a second season already confirmed, Amazon is clearly betting big on the franchise as it looks to build on the momentum of recent game-to-screen successes.
