Radio 1 will dedicate October to a month-long series of Live Lounge sessions that will be broadcast at midday on the station's new show hosted by Charlie Hedges and Jeremiah Asiamah. The programming change gives the pair a regular Live Lounge slot on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and brings a mix of established names and rising artists into the studio throughout the month.
The run opens on 5 October with Stockport's Blossoms and spreads across three days each week. Nothing But Thieves follows on 7 October, with Sam Smith scheduled for 9 October. Later appearances include rising US artist Stella Lefty on 12 October, the duo Chase & Status on 14 October, and West Midlands singer Jorja Smith on 16 October, performing in the weeks after her third album What Are The Odds was released. The schedule continues with Beabadoobee on 19 October, Rachel Chinouriri on 21 October, London artist Odeal on 23 October, and the pairing of Anderson .Paak and Cordae on 26 October. A surprise guest is slated for 28 October, and Brighton rock duo Royal Blood will close the month on 30 October.
Each Live Lounge visit will feature an acoustic take on one of the guest's own tracks plus a cover of another artist's song, preserving the format's established mix of original and reinterpretation. The sessions will air as part of the midday slot on Hedges and Asiamah's new programme, which replaces the previous schedule that included other long‑running presenters.
Hedges, who previously co-hosted Live Lounge with Rickie Haywood-Williams and Melvin Odoom before changes to the station's schedule, posted that she is "so excited" to present alongside Asiamah and said she would be "cheering them on in their next chapter." Asiamah described taking the role as a "privilege" and added, "Bring it on. Hope you're ready, because I ain't, it's going to be a surprise and a big vibe." The appearance-by-appearance rollout gives Radio 1 a steady promotional platform across October and leaves room for the announced surprise act late in the month.
