Hon. Donald Ojogo, the member representing Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, narrowly escaped death on Saturday after he was involved in an auto crash along the Ore–Ondo Road.
The accident reportedly occurred when a commercial bus attempted a dangerous overtaking manoeuvre and collided with an oncoming vehicle, causing panic among other road users.
Ojogo, who recently secured re-election to the National Assembly, was not seriously injured. However, some members of his entourage sustained injuries in the crash.
The lawmaker was travelling to Arogbo in Ese-Odo Local Government Area for a political meeting when the incident occurred.
Reacting to the crash, Ojogo expressed gratitude to God for sparing his life and that of his team.
"God took perfect control of the situation and prevented what could have turned into a tragic incident," he said.
Ojogo blamed the accident on reckless driving, accusing the commercial bus driver of impatience on the highway.
Those injured in the crash were taken to a nearby hospital, where they are receiving treatment.
