An inquisitive judge did not approve today the settlement negotiated by state Attorneys General in connection with Paramount’s $111 billion acquisition of Warner Bros Discovery, leaving the agreement unsigned and the litigation unresolved.
The California Attorney General’s office issued a public statement insisting the settlement was "Not The Result Of Collusion." The remark was presented as a defense of the state office’s role in the negotiation process.
The settlement at issue was the product of talks led by state Attorneys General and remained before the court for formal approval. With the judge withholding sign-off, the proposed resolution has not been judicially entered and the parties have not received the court’s blessing to implement its terms.
