The Jonah family is preparing for burial after three of Samuel Jonah’s children were found dead on his farm in Oke Ogba, Akure. Witnesses said twins Joshua and Jacob, both 11, and their five-year-old sister Blessing accompanied their father to the farm on Friday. At some point the children made their way home while their father stayed to work, and were reported missing when he later returned.
Searchers recovered the bodies on Saturday near a stream on the property, an area police described as the bank of a small river close to the Owena Army Barracks. The Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the discovery and provided a timeline, saying, "The Ondo State Police Command confirms the tragic loss of three siblings at a farm located around the Owena Army Barracks, Akure, on 4th September 2026." Jimoh named the victims and said the bodies were found on 5th September 2026.
The police spokesman said the father took the bodies for burial and that officers remain at work documenting the scene and probing what led to the deaths. Local residents voiced shock and grief, and neighbours joined searches after the children were reported missing. There has been no confirmed cause of death reported, and the absence of a clear explanation has put investigators under public and familial pressure to establish how the children died.
The immediate task for the Ondo State Police Command is forensic and evidentiary: complete scene documentation and any medical or laboratory steps that will identify cause and manner of death.
