UFC's profit margins and consolidated results came under pressure after staging Freedom 250 on the South Lawn produced an approximate $30m shortfall. The loss, disclosed by parent company TKO Group Holdings, reflected unusually high event costs that the organisation had factored into its planning for the one-off production in June.

The invite-only celebration, held as part of events marking 250 years of American independence, drew roughly 4,300 attendees, including President Donald Trump and Vice-President JD Vance. Tickets were not available to the general public, and early estimates put initial expenses above $60m. UFC recouped some spending through sponsorships, media exposure and commercial partnerships, and reports in May indicated “high-roller” packages were offered for special access, with UFC sources confirming the packages existed but not their prices.

Andrew Schleimer, chief financial officer of TKO Group, told investors the company incurred significantly higher than normal costs for Freedom 250, which they "partially offset with sold-out global partnerships inventory." He added, "Given the event's profile, which as anticipated, resulted in an approximate $30m loss, our margins at UFC as well as on a consolidated basis were meaningfully impacted."

The financial hit came as TKO implements a new media era for UFC. Last year the group signed a $7.7bn, seven-year contract with Paramount that makes the broadcaster the promotion's US home starting in 2026, and Freedom 250 was shown exclusively on the Paramount+ streaming service. The event reached an average audience of 34 million viewers worldwide, placing it among the most watched mixed martial arts shows on record.

Despite the single-event deficit, UFC's top line strengthened. TKO reported a 29% year-over-year increase in UFC revenue to $535.7m for the second quarter, supported by a $64.7m rise in media-rights income tied to the Paramount deal. The gains in broadcasting revenue and sold partnerships narrowed the net impact of the White House production, but TKO's executives signalled the $30m loss materially affected margins at both the promotion level and across the consolidated company.
