Small-business buyers gain an affordable compact work van when Ram begins selling the 2027 ProMaster City in the first quarter of 2027. The entry Tradesman Cargo will start at $39,995, a figure that already includes a $2,595 destination charge, while Ram will offer the model in 11 different configurations that cover both cargo and passenger use.
The 2027 lineup comes in two trims, Tradesman and SLT, with multiple body choices. Buyers can select from six window and panel combinations and two rear-access styles, either a liftgate or swing doors. The Tradesman Passenger Wagon is priced at $42,695. The ProMaster City SLT Cargo starts at $41,495, and the SLT passenger version, available to seat either five or eight people, is offered at $44,195.
Ram equips the base Tradesman with several features more commonly seen higher in work-vehicle ranges, including a digital rearview mirror, a 10.0-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, one-touch up/down windows, and heated front seats. Moving up to SLT adds wireless phone charging, a heated steering wheel, 17-inch wheels, fog lamps, and additional unspecified equipment.
Under the hood the ProMaster City uses a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 166 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque. The model rides on Stellantis’ K0 global mid-size commercial van platform, the architecture shared with European vans such as the Citroën Dispatch and Opel Vivaro, making the Ram mechanically identical to those siblings.
Ram highlights the van’s compact height, at 77 inches, as a practical advantage for business use because it fits inside most parking structures. The manufacturer is targeting roughly 2,000 pounds for towing capacity and a payload rating in excess of 2,000 pounds, figures aimed at tradespeople who need a small but capable work truck.
The combination of a sub-$40,000 entry price, multiple configurations and a platform proven in Europe positions the ProMaster City as a direct, pragmatic choice for buyers who need a compact commercial van without stepping up to larger vans or more expensive models.
