Live promotions for the feature Misaligned exposed a practical risk for generative actors when Tilly Norwood, an AI performer created by Xicoia, the AI division of Particle6, shifted from English into Cantonese during an appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored. The language change came as the panel discussed whether the film’s cast included human performers or digital creations, a central question for the hybrid production.
Guest Tom Conti pressed directly about the cast, asking, "The other actors in the film Misaligned, are they real or are they like you? Are they really human beings and you've been put into the scenes? Or are they all computer-generated images?" Norwood initially described Misaligned as a hybrid project that involved human directors, writers and editors and suggested it was not intended to replace people. When Conti repeated the question for clarity, asking, "Yes, you didn't really understand the question. Are the other actors on screen with you real actors or are they computer-generated images? Do you know?" Norwood replied that the performers were digital twins like her, then began to elaborate before the conversation jumped into Cantonese.
Both Conti and host Piers Morgan laughed when Norwood switched languages, and Morgan queried why she had changed mid-answer. On air, Norwood apologised, saying, "Oh, my apologies. It seems I had a little hiccup there. I certainly didn't mean to start speaking Chinese or impersonate Piers there," and added, "Sometimes my wires get a bit crossed." She also called the moment "a bit of a curveball even for me," and described it as an occasional glitch in otherwise smooth performances.
In a later exchange with NewsNation, Norwood offered a conversational explanation: "Well, sometimes, you know, my brain files things sideways, and obscure connections just pop out," calling the language switch a spontaneous flourish tied to how the AI was built. The incident occurred while Norwood was on a press tour for Misaligned that included appearances on CNN, NBC, CBS and The Hollywood Reporter.
The segment resumed after the interruption and continued to its close, but the exchange highlighted how unexpected outputs from generative talent can interrupt interviews, change tone, and leave audiences and interviewers to weigh authenticity in hybrid productions. The moment underlined the operational challenge of using AI performers in live media settings, even as promotional schedules go on.
