Meta is positioning personal AI agents as a core product and new revenue source, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said on the company’s Q2 2026 earnings call. "Soon we will have agents that can work 24/7 on your behalf to help you achieve your goals and improve your life, your health, your relationships, your finances, whatever you want," he said, framing agents as tools that operate continuously for individual users.
Zuckerberg sketched how the company expects to turn that capability into something mainstream. "The first domain that agents have really taken off in is coding. But engineers are more technical and willing to spend time making those agents work, so to build great personal agents, this needs to be a great consumer product that just works out of the box and is easy enough for billions of people to adopt and use," he said, stressing usability as Meta’s route to broad adoption.
Meta will enter a crowded field. Companies such as Anthropic and OpenAI have invested heavily in agent tools aimed at coding and enterprise workflows, and Google has been advancing personal assistants through Gemini Spark, a tool The Verge described as both capable and unnerving. Meta lacks the same natural integration into users’ email and documents that Google and Microsoft enjoy, a structural disadvantage for agents that rely on personal data to act on someone’s behalf.
The company also faces trust and perception hurdles. Meta’s smart glasses have generated a separate “creep” debate, and the brand’s broader reputation could make people hesitant to hand over persistent control to its software. Internally, Meta has reorganized around AI, reportedly moving 7,000 staffers to new AI initiatives while executing a workforce reduction of about 8,000 employees in May.
Meta’s product and infrastructure moves underline the bet. The firm launched the Muse Spark model last quarter and pushed a 1.1 update with improved coding abilities. It reported that more than 1 million businesses use Meta’s business agents on WhatsApp and Messenger each week, and said those agents will expand onto Instagram. Instagram itself reached more than 2 billion daily active users, the company said. Meta also expects to spend $130 to $145 billion in capital expenditures in 2026 and announced a 1 gigawatt data center campus with BlackRock.
Zuckerberg said Meta will reveal additional details "soon," and argued agents will become central to the company’s roadmap. "[Personal agents will be] the foundation for our next wave of products and revenue lines in the months and years ahead," he said, signaling more product and commercial moves to come.
