Festival audiences and remote readers gain new, exclusive material after The Hollywood Reporter reopened its signature content studio at TIFF and recorded a live episode of Scott Feinberg’s Awards Chatter with Penélope Cruz.
For the 14th consecutive year the studio operated from 1 Hotel Toronto, serving as an invitation-only hub where the publication’s photographers and videographers captured portraits and interviews with this year’s most discussed talent. Names who passed through the space included Naomi Watts, Jon Hamm, Ayo Edebiri, Mahershala Ali, Michelle Yeoh, Gary Oldman, Helen Mirren, Javier Bardem, Seth Rogen and Lily-Rose Depp, among others.
The studio was presented by Canada Goose, which sponsored the space and was described in the event materials as a long-standing outfitter for film crews working in demanding conditions. The partnership framed the studio as a field-ready production environment where filmmakers and actors could stop between premieres and press engagements for portraits, video segments and on-camera conversations.
To close the weekend, THR hosted a live Awards Chatter taping at Casa Madera inside 1 Hotel Toronto. The guest was Penélope Cruz, a Spanish Academy and Academy Award winner who premiered La Bola Negra and Bunker at the festival and whose year also includes an acclaimed turn in Olivia Wilde’s The Invite. The recording will be released on major streaming platforms in the coming days.
The Toronto event followed other festival live tapings earlier this year, including sessions with Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Sandra Hüller at Cannes. TIFF runs through Sept. 20, and the studio’s return underscores the publication’s ongoing cross-platform coverage from the festival, combining portraits, video, interviews and live audio to reach audiences who cannot attend in person.
