Nikita Bier is stepping down as head of product at X after a little more than a year in the role.
In a post on X, Bier said he would continue to serve as an adviser to the company but would no longer lead its product team.
"Ladies and gentlemen, it's time to pass the torch and demote myself to my natural state: a poster," Bier wrote.
He described serving the X community as "the privilege of a lifetime" and said it was time to take a break from what he called a "24/7 job."
During his tenure, Bier became one of X's most recognisable executives and led several high-profile product initiatives.
Among them was the rollout of the "About this account" feature, which displays an account's country of origin and revealed that several popular accounts posing as US-based political influencers were operating from elsewhere.
He also led changes to X's creator monetisation programme, including efforts to reduce engagement bait and crack down on creators who repost content from others.
Bier said he would continue advising the company but did not disclose his next role.
Before joining X, he founded the anonymous messaging apps tbh and Gas. Facebook acquired tbh in 2017, while Discord purchased Gas in 2023. Both apps were later shut down.
X has not announced a successor.
Bier acknowledged members of his team, including Benji Taylor, who became the company's head of design earlier this year.
Taylor said he would remain focused on leading design while helping continue the work started under Bier's leadership.
