A pastor has been killed and two church members critically wounded after terrorists suspected to be Fulani militias attacked Fubok village in Daffo district, Bokkos Local Government Area, Plateau State.
Conflict journalist Masara Kim Usman confirmed the assault on Friday, saying the assailants laid siege to the community Thursday night and unleashed violence that left Pastor Philibus dead and two of his congregants in critical condition. Masara added that the same group had struck a nearby village earlier, killing three people.
Masara also reported broader insecurity south of Jos, saying two people were killed and one injured in Daffo as shootings continued in Dorowa, Barkin Ladi LGA.
The President of the Berom Youth-Moulders Association, Barr. Solomon Mwantiri, issued an urgent security alert before the Fubok attack. He warned of a looming strike around Dorowa Babuje, urged travellers from Jos to Mangu and others using the Dorowa Babuje axis to suspend journeys, and called on security agencies to deploy operatives immediately to protect lives and restore normalcy. He also advised residents to remain calm, avoid sharing unverified information, and stay in safe locations until authorities declare the area secure.
The killings add to a string of deadly incidents in communities south of Jos and underscore continuing threats to residents in Bokkos and Barkin Ladi. Local leaders have urged prompt security deployment and travel suspensions along vulnerable routes as shootings persist.
Calls for an immediate response from security agencies continue, while residents have been warned to prioritise safety and await official confirmation that the affected routes are safe.
