From 21 September 2026, FirstHoldCo’s admission to the FTSE Frontier 50 gives international investors a clearer path to buy the stock and raises the company’s profile with managers of ETFs, pension funds and other institutional buyers. The move places FirstHoldCo among five other Nigerian firms on a benchmark designed to signal investability within frontier markets.
The FTSE Frontier 50 selects firms that pass tests for market capitalisation, trading liquidity, free float, governance and overall investability, criteria that shape which companies attract index-tracking funds and frontier-market mandates. Market participants that follow the index typically adjust portfolios when constituents change, a process that can bring new, predictable demand into a company’s secondary market.
FirstHoldCo says the admission reflects an improved liquidity profile, a stronger market position and governance upgrades that have brought sustained investor interest and better financial results. The group also reports it has met the Central Bank of Nigeria’s minimum capital requirement, a development the company links to a reinforced balance sheet and greater capacity for growth.
Company management expects the index listing to translate into deeper secondary-market liquidity, broader institutional participation and enhanced access to global capital, outcomes the board describes as supportive of its strategic aims. Group Chairman Femi Otedola, CON, said, “Our inclusion in the FTSE Frontier 50 Index is a defining milestone in FirstHoldCo’s evolution. It affirms the transformation we are driving, the confidence investors continue to place in our institution, and the strength of our governance and business model. We remain focused on building a stronger, more profitable and globally competitive financial services group, while delivering superior and sustainable value to shareholders.”
Group Managing Director Wale Oyedeji added, “This achievement reflects the discipline, commitment and execution focus of our Board, Management and employees. It validates the progress we have made in strengthening performance, enhancing operations and positioning FirstHoldCo for sustainable growth. Importantly, it elevates our visibility among global institutional investors and reinforces our ambition to be the leading African financial services provider delivering innovative solutions.”
Beyond any immediate trading response, the inclusion gives FirstHoldCo a platform for ongoing engagement with long-term global capital and underlines its stated ambition to scale across Africa’s financial services market. For investors, the practical effect will be easier access to the stock through frontier-market mandates and exchange-traded products that track the FTSE Frontier 50, flows that could support more predictable liquidity and a broader investor base over time.
