Monique Lhuillier’s Spring 2027 ready-to-wear trades some of the label’s usual theatricality for cleaner lines and greater versatility, making evening dressing feel more wearable. The designer set out to reduce what she called the excesses of occasion wear and instead explored how less ornamentation might still read as glamour.

At the heart of the collection was a focus on draping, an approach Lhuillier said brought her renewed enthusiasm. “I really found joy in the draping,” she said, adding that she wanted pieces that evoked classical forms. That emphasis showed immediately: the show opened with a cobalt-blue jersey gown cut off one shoulder, draped to create a strong silhouette and finished with a high leg slit, a formal shape rendered in a T-shirt, like fabric.
Versatility recurred across the line. A chiffon sky-blue gown combined a fitted strapless bodice with a detachable shoulder cape, and multiple evening looks incorporated removable capes or jackets so a wearer could shift between covered and statement modes. Those options were presented as practical refinements to Lhuillier’s established language of embroidered and floral dresses.
Not every look was subdued. Some designs demanded full commitment, like a black squared-neck gown anchored by oversized-pearl shoulder straps, a piece the show suggested would rely on the wearer as much as the dress. Other offerings leaned into texture rather than heavy beading, including a strapless pink mini shot through with metallic-foiled raffia accents, which the designer noted "It’s easy to pack." There was also a slinky gold-sequin dress with an asymmetric knotted tie that read Bond Girl-ready.
The collection still gave room to exuberant tulle, from a red mermaid strapless gown with pink tulle showing at the underlay to a tulle T-shirt gown arranged in a beaded grid that suggested tweed. When Lhuillier balanced the pared-back with the ornate, the results felt most successful, as in a silver-champagne slip dress where beads traced the body’s natural lines. "It felt effortless, like an essential in a woman’s closet," she said.
By leaning on draping, detachable elements and lighter textural choices, Lhuillier reframed eveningwear as something more adaptable while retaining moments of signature glamour. The collection offered a clearer path for clients seeking formal looks that also fit into a practical, modern wardrobe.
