Instagram users gain a new way to curate their public profile, the company announced, by adding posts they are tagged in directly to their main profile grid starting today. The change gives people a path to surface group photos or collaborative content on their page without reposting the original image or video.
The company says the move simplifies saving shared moments: a tagged post can be added to a profile from the DM notification you receive, from the post itself, or by using the Tagged tab. The original content remains on the original account, Instagram says, and moving a tagged post onto your grid does not delete or duplicate the original. You can also remove the tagged post from your profile later while leaving it in the Tagged tab.
Instagram framed the feature as useful for creators and brands. The platform says creators can use it to showcase posts they were tagged in without republishing the same content or relying on the Invite collaborators option. Brands and multi-creator campaigns can similarly highlight pieces of content that tag multiple participants across each contributor’s profile.
This rollout follows a string of updates aimed at giving people more control over their grids and editing tools. In June Instagram added a Reorder your grid capability, letting users rearrange posts. The company has also introduced new editing features, including First Draft, which automatically trims selected video clips and removes pauses to produce an initial cut, and Replace Audio, which lets users change the music on an existing post.
Instagram presents the tagged-posts option as another incremental tool for profile management, and the company says the feature is available starting today. For users and creators who want to display shared content without republishing, the change removes the awkward choice between posting the same photo again or leaving it buried in a tagged list.
