Wealthy buyers gain a new, deliberately ostentatious status vehicle, the Brabus 800 Cabrio, a Mercedes-AMG G-Class reworked into an 800-hp convertible. Brabus fitted the G with a folding fabric roof, extensive carbon-fiber bodywork, and an interior trimmed in abundant cowhide. Power comes from an 800-hp iteration of Mercedes-AMG’s twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8, and Brabus added a blow-off valve system and lit exhaust tips as part of the theatre.

Despite its bulk, the 800 Cabrio accelerates briskly, reaching 60 mph in under four seconds. The top retracts in 20 seconds, and the standard car rides on large 24-inch monoblock wheels. Brabus offers two distinct flavors of the Cabrio, including a higher-riding XL version that uses portal axles to raise ground clearance to 18.9 inches, a package aimed at off-road posing rather than subtle trail use.
Brabus positions the 800 Cabrio as an intentionally over-the-top statement piece, and the company limits production to just 50 examples. That restriction, together with the extensive bespoke work, places the Cabrio well above the standard G63 in cost, the reporting noting it would be more than four times the price of a regular G63. The piece even leans on a cultural aside with Dr. Evil’s one-liner, "One million dollars!" to underline the expected expense.
The Brabus 800 Cabrio keeps the G’s capability credentials but repackages them for conspicuous consumption, blending extreme power and convertible spectacle with an optional XL package that amplifies visual and physical height. With only 50 cars planned, the model is designed to be rare and highly visible, likely turning up where clientele seek attention. Brabus has thus taken the G-Class’s existing presence and dialled it to theatrical.
What happens next is limited availability and concentrated visibility: a small run of bespoke convertibles that trade practical utility for singular excess, and an unmistakable new option for buyers who want an open-top SUV that advertises wealth as loudly as it accelerates.
