Media who want to cover NASA’s International Observe the Moon Night can attend a free public celebration on Saturday, Sept. 19, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. CST at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama. The event, hosted at the visitor center for the Marshall Space Flight Center, will focus on lunar science, the Moon’s role in human culture, and the agency’s ongoing exploration efforts.

Agency experts will deliver talks on lunar science and exploration, and the program will highlight lunar observations made by the Artemis II crew during their April mission. NASA says there will be opportunities for media to capture visuals and to interview agency specialists on site, and reporters who plan to attend must confirm their participation with Joel Wallace in the Marshall newsroom by 3 p.m., Friday, Sept. 18. Media participants should report to the Davidson Center when they arrive.
Visitors will find hands-on STEM activities, a science stage show, a photo booth and face-painting among the public programming available for coverage. Janet Ivey, the host of the children’s television series "Janet’s Planet," will appear at the event. The Von Braun Astronomical Society will supply telescopes and conduct guided viewing sessions of the Moon, planets and other celestial objects for attendees.
The evening is presented by the Planetary Missions Program Office at NASA Marshall. Visitor parking is available at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center.
