Military operations in Kaduna have removed key personnel and ammunition from suspected terrorist networks, after troops arrested a suspected kingpin and two associates and intercepted a courier carrying 300 rounds of live ammunition.
Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, Media Information Officer for Operation Fansan Yamma, said Sector 1 forces carried out a clearance of Dabar Dabo, a suspected hideout in Kubau Local Government Area, in the early hours of September 9, 2026. The raid resulted in the detention of the suspected leader and two other members of his syndicate, who are now in military custody pending further investigation.
On the same day, troops acting on credible intelligence arrested a 50-year-old woman in Igabi Local Government Area after finding 300 rounds concealed in a bag. Danja said preliminary inquiries indicate the woman travelled from Zamfara State to Lafia, where she allegedly collected the ammunition for onward delivery to terrorists in Birnin Gwari, Kaduna State. The suspect and the recovered rounds have been taken into custody for additional probing.
Later on September 9, Sector 1 personnel, working with a community vigilante group, apprehended a man suspected of supplying logistics to terrorist elements in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area. Security forces recovered four communication devices during interrogation and a search of the suspect's premises, and those items are now held by the military as part of the inquiry.
Danja described the operations as part of sustained efforts to disrupt networks that enable violence, to restrict criminal freedom of movement, and to block the flow of arms, ammunition and other supplies across the Joint Operations Area. He thanked members of the public for their support and urged continued vigilance and prompt reporting of suspicious activity to the nearest security agency.
All suspects and seized items remain in military custody for further investigation, signalling potential follow-up operations as security forces exploit the intelligence gathered during the raids.
