The lamp’s architecture is deliberately simple: a cylindrical base sits beneath a tilting circular shade that hides a translucent acrylic diffuser. The diffuser sculpts the lamp’s output, producing defined shadow and reflection on the body beneath while spreading a soft, atmospheric glow into the surrounding space.
Portability is central to Topo’s brief. The lamp runs on a rechargeable battery so it can be shifted from bedside to shelf corner or used on an outdoor table without trailing cables. "Topo is about creating a dialogue between light, surface and space," said Pöttinger. He described the design as responsive to context, its presence changing depending on where and how it is used.
Topo is compact and offered in four finishes that reference a mid-century aesthetic: black, light blue, brown and polished metal. The lamp is constructed from metal with an acrylic diffuser and measures 159 x 159 x 200 millimetres. It is one of two battery-powered table lamps the studio has produced with Maytoni, the other named Asym.
